  Kamala Samman Award 2011  
 

The Kamala Samman for the year 2011 was presented to Judy Frater of Kala Raksha Trust for her untiring and path-breaking work with the Rabari Embroidery artisans of Bhuj, Kutch. As Founder and Coordinator of the Kala Raksha Trust in Bhuj, Gujarat, she has successfully taken a large number of tribal embroiderers on the road to self- expression, financial security and sustainable development.

   
  Kamal Award for Excellence in Craft 2011  
  For the year 2011 The Kamala Award for Excellence in Craft was awarded to Gajam Yadagiri a talented and highly skilled Master Weaver of Puttapaka, Andhra Pradesh for his proficiency in handloom weaving using the complex ikat technique of yarn tie and dye. Superbly designed and patterned ‘Telia Rumaals’ in double ikat, using natural dyes and traditional motifs have placed Gajam Yadagiri in the forefront of Master Weaver of Andhra Pradesh.
   
  Kamala Award for Contribution to Craft 2011  
  The Kamala Award for Contribution to Crafts for the year 2011 was presented to Belagallu Veeranna, a folk theatre artist for his exceptional work in training artisans and developing the traditional leather puppetry of Karnataka. Shri.Veeranna is a master in handcrafting traditional life size leather puppets. He also produces puppet shows with themes drawn from the epics and history, yet contemporary in content. Andhra’s famed ‘Gogallu Gombe Aatta’ evolved to heights of perfection under his direction.
   
 

Shanta Prasad Award 2011

 
  The Shanta Prasad Award for Excellence in Crafts for the year 2011 was presented to Smt. Bina Dey, an accomplished kantha embroidery artisan of West Bengal. A passion for perfection and innovation has made Smt. Bina Dey, a Master Kantha Embroidery Artisan who has revived many 19th century Kantha pieces.
   
 

UNESCO Award for Excellence in Handicrafts 2011
