The Craft outlets of the Crafts Council of India

The Crafts Council of India was formed in 1964 to address the challenges faced by craftspersons and craft communities across India post independence.

It is a voluntary, not for profit registered body with a network of ten councils. Since its inception, the council has tried to tackle the twin issues of providing sustainable livelihoods and professional marketing support as a viable means of developing traditional crafts.

As an outcome of our efforts in this direction we are happy to bring Kamala store to the service of the artisan community, offering a permanent window for quality crafts in some of India’s most important markets.

At Kamala we showcase products of excellence and quality. We will also focus on specially designed products developed during the course of our interaction with artisans over the last three decades.

In a world of increasing uniformity, it has been our dream to weave the unique beauty of handicrafts back into our everyday lives; to reaffirm the relevance and the viability of the handcrafted object.

Seek to demonstrate that professional marketing support is an essential
means of developing traditional crafts and providing sustainable livelihoods.
The products, sourced directly from artisans, have been specially designed
and carefully chosen to showcase innovation in different materials and fine workmanship. These outlets are run with collaboration between the
CCI headquartered in Chennai and the local state council.
